The Papal Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi and the Papal Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels in Assisi offer Mass in English on Sundays and Solemnities. The Basilica of St. Francis also hosts monthly Masses at the Tomb of St. Francis.
We also facilitate the arrangement of English-language Masses and liturgical music at many other sacred sites in Assisi.
For the first time, from February 22 to March 22, 2026, the body of St. Francis of Assisi will be moved from his tomb and placed at the foot of the papal altar in the lower church of the Basilica of St. Francis in Assisi, an extraordinary event marking the 800th anniversary of the Saint’s death. Pilgrims from around the world will have the unique opportunity to venerate the relics of the Saint who “still inspires humanity along the path of peace, fraternity, service to the poor, joy, and care for creation”.
Pilgrims can use the free and mandatory reservation system to organize their visit on the official centenary website: sanfrancescovive.org.
The Basilica will also celebrate two international Masses from Monday to Saturday at 11 AM and 5 PM in the upper church.
For any help or questions about participating in this unmissable event, please reach out to [email protected].
